Energy

Power your estate can budget for.

Skratchsphere meters your power, shows the true cost per kilowatt-hour, cuts what can be cut, and delivers solar hybrid systems with financing partners when the numbers work.

The problem

Energy is now the biggest line in most service charges.

Grid supply is unreliable and Band A tariffs are high. Diesel is expensive and its price swings from month to month, so estates cannot budget and residents cannot understand why the tariff changed. Most estates do not know their real cost per kilowatt-hour because fuel, maintenance and generator wear are never added up in one place.

What we do

Cheapest savings first, solar when the numbers work.

  1. Energy audit.

Metered load profile, generator efficiency, fuel reconciliation, and the true cost per kilowatt-hour from each source. Written report.

  2. Generator and fuel controls.

Fuel monitoring, service scheduling, load management and tamper controls, which are usually the fastest savings available.

  3. Metering and tariffs.

Prepaid or smart metering for units, a tariff structure the exco can explain, and monthly reporting of generation, sales and losses.

  4. Solar hybrid.

Solar with battery storage and generator backup, sized from your measured load. Delivered with financing partners under an energy service agreement, so the estate pays a tariff per kilowatt-hour rather than the capital cost up front. Skratchsphere originates, engineers and operates the system.

  5. Grid and regulatory.

Support with distribution company arrangements and the state electricity market rules now emerging under the Electricity Act 2023, with Lagos furthest ahead.

How energy service agreements work

A financing partner funds the solar and storage system. The estate signs a multi-year agreement to buy the power at an agreed tariff, which is indexed to published fuel and grid prices in a formula written into the contract. Skratchsphere designs the system, manages installation and operates it. The estate gets a lower and more predictable cost per kilowatt-hour without raising the capital. Not every estate qualifies: it depends on load, roof or ground space, and the association's payment record.

Assumptions: generator output equals average load multiplied by hours run; the maintenance allowance is added to fuel cost only; the hybrid figure is whatever a partner has quoted you. Nothing here is a guarantee.

Questions

Questions we are asked about power.

Can you give our estate 24-hour power?

Reliable power for the essential loads, yes, with the right system and backup. Twenty-four-hour unlimited supply at the lowest tariff is not a promise anyone should make, and we do not.

Do we have to buy the solar system?

No. Most estates use an energy service agreement with a financing partner. Estates that prefer to own the system can buy it outright.

What if diesel prices fall?

The tariff formula is indexed, so the estate benefits when inputs fall as well as paying more when they rise. This is written into the agreement.

Can you just fix our generators and fuel theft first?

Yes, and that is usually where we start.
